I feel Jira Admin exam is not only about "how much you know Jira admin" but rather "the best way of doing Jira admin in different situations". I don't think the existing books (including mine) were written with a purpose of providing a guide to clear the exam. We are anyways not allowed to share sample questions asked :) Each book is based on experiences of author when they were working as Jira Administrators. You will learn something different from each book. Comparing them is probably not a good idea. Someone who is already a Jira admin and wants to clear the exam. Here are my tips. 1. Some preparation before you start a proper preparation Do sample exam, it is short but will help in assessing where you are. Make sure you already know Jira customisations, if not delay your exam. 2.…
I have been using ScriptRunner for Jira for many years but I never bothered to learn it properly. I don't even know groovy well, but I guess for doing Jira Administration you just need to know about programming and don't need to be a full fledged developer. So I started learning it properly and I thought of also sharing whatever I was learning and it might help others who are trying to learn ScriptRunner for Jira for doing wonderful things with their Jira instance. Here is the link to my ScriptRunner for Jira playlist. I recommend starting from the beginning. If you are a beginner and let me know if it was useful. Enjoy and have fun.
BBC Micro:bit
Today in the library I saw BBC micro:bit kit and I am quite excited about it. I have few weeks to play with it. I know it is a tiny micro programmable computer. Not sure how it works but looking forward to explore it. https://microbit.org/
I made my first youtube video for educational purpose in 2011, that was 8 years ago. I had a windows machine back then and I made quite lot of videos, mostly on Drupal. Those videos were really bad (when I look at them now), when I say bad I mean as compared to my current videos which are not great either. My audio was bad, I was not talking properly, the delivery was not great either although the content was useful. I stopped making videos for a long while because youtube was not a big thing yet in India at least 8 years ago. It was a good platform but nothing like right now. I had other priorities in life so I didn't bother much. Around 2 years ago I though I should restart creating videos. My objective was simple - I wanted to learn new things and I know from my experience that when…
I have been making lot of videos lately on my youtube channel and few other channels. I like making videos but I was thinking will people consume content in only video format in future? I doubt it. You never know but there is a something about writing that videos can never replace. Do you agree?
I bought my first Mac in 2013 but honestly I never used it a lot. I bought it to create a mobile app for a client and then later to watch movies and youtube videos but for the past 2 years I have been using Mac as my main computer and I am by no means an expert on using Mac but everyday I learn something good. Today I was wondering how can I quickly view the directory structure of a folder. After doing a quick google search I found on utility called tree. Yes simple tree command that you can run on your mac but you need to install it first. Just type the following command. I am assuming you have brew already on your mac. If not then go to https://brew.sh and download it. brew install tree That is it really. Now go ahead and try this command. $tree ├── LICENSE ├── README…
Not really, writing has always been my favourite thing to do. these days although I have been making lot of videos. Reason is simple. I am liking it and I realise that videos are the future. That doesn't mean that people will stop writing or reading it will stay forever.
I started creating tutorial videos for Structure app in Jira. It will be a series of videos which I will organise in a playlist. Check here https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_E9T0Z4ua15Dnv8IhB9H8fX23Gd_jRdP This is the link to the playlist. I have tried creating short videos so it is easy for everyone to follow and at the same time you can just watch videos relevant to you. If you have no prior experience on using Structure then start with the first video in the playlist. Enjoy.
Welcome 2019
So this is my first post in 2019. Happy new year to myself ? have fun Ravi in 2019. Lately lot of changes happened in my life. Overall life is good and relaxed as of now. I hope it stays the same. I still need to finalise my 2019 goals. I can share some of them here like - writing one more book, make lot of videos, expand my technical knowledge, become fluent in French, exercise and stay happy. I will share the exact list. Recently I started making lot of videos. I never bothered about YouTube all these years but now I think it is a good idea to share. Above all it is my own personal record of things happening in my life that I can share. I have few channels now - Ravi Sagar which is for tech stuff, Desi BlackBerry Boy is for personal videos fory near and dears, Planet Unveiled is for…
