Feels good to wear a suit, it automatically boosts your confidence by 500% but of course it is lot of hassle to wear it and when wearing a suite you a little conscious as well about your appearance, but sometimes I do think that we should dress up well everyday when going to work. Your appearance does make a big difference.

I guess I need to shave but laziness is also a thing and I like my beard as well. I don't know why we even shave :)

Wow, can't believe 2018 is over, well almost. Not many days left. So many things happening in life. I made lot of plans earlier this year and honestly I have mixed feelings about my plans. Overall I would say I am happy but I could have done much much better but anyways, atleast I am aware of it.
As compared to 2017 this year was way better in terms of what I was able to achieve. So that is good news.
As of now I have just too many things in my mind but I need to spend some time and organise my thoughts. I used to write a lot, I mean a lot. When I say writing I mean actual writing on paper with pen. For me writing and taking notes has always helped me a lot. Whenever I make plans by writing I do end up doing them or atleast attempt finishing them.
I still remember lot of plans I made in 2011 and after 7 years I can't believe I have done so much. One thing I wish is that I can be more organised and I hope in the next few weeks before the end of this year I get more clarity.
I will make another post where I will review all the things I wanted to do this year and will wither carry forward them to next year or postpone them or remove them completely.
In 2019 I really want to do a lot more for sure. One thing which I am not doing at all for the past 4 years and especially last 2 years is taking care of my health. So health would now be my first and most important priority for every year now. I may join a gym, start running or cycling but I will make sure I spend time on my health. For the next few years I will probably not burden myself by doing too many things. I will do less things and do them better.
Let us see how it goes.
I don't work on cloud a lot which is fine but from time to time every other week I do log in to one of my cloud instance to check few things here and there or to do some research but that's it. Cloud and Server were quite similar but now a days especially in the past 1 years they offer different features. Usually Cloud brings out new features and then those are pushed to Jira Server.
So long story short I came to know about these personal projects in Jira and Roadmaps on Jira Cloud and today while creating a new project I got this new option to create a next-gen project. I thought why not record my experience of exploring this new feature on Jira Cloud.
So watch this video as I experience this new feature :)

Update
Hi swentel! I just read your
and sorry just checking with another post as well.
I recently announced that I will be doing my engineering all over again and also share my learnings by creating youtube videos and blogs as well. My dream is to write books on engineering subjects. Lets see :)
I am starting with Algorithm Design and Analysis and here are the video so far.
Playlist url: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_E9T0Z4ua17Hz1lmvw5fbviYz3LgdVdd
Asymptotic Analysis: https://youtu.be/SSThtTNsK2w
Asymptotic Notations: https://youtu.be/iRWsnm4kEOE
Insertion Sort: https://youtu.be/Ykwkty1-JQw
As more videos are posted on youtube or any other resource that I create, I will update this page.
Have fun :)
Yes you read it correctly I am actually redoing my engineering again almost after 20 years. I am not really enrolling myself in a course or going back to university but I am actually relearning the things that I learned long long back again.
I made a video explain what are my plans. You can watch that video if you want but I am anyways sharing my plan in this blog.
So my plan is simple and long term. I want to study engineering subjects again and while I am studying them I will also make a video about what I learned. Now this will give a good reason to learn them properly as I will be learning it with the intention to teach it.
I started learning Algorithm Design and Analysis and really enjoying it. I also made a video on Asymptotic Analysis today, honestly I had some difficulty making that video because I was struggling to be technically correct and use the right terminology. 20 years is a long time but it didn't take me long to catch up.
My intention is to continue making good simple videos and my main objective is not to make videos but to learn. These days it is so easy to get clarity on a topic. There are plenty of videos online and tons of resources. While I was doing engineering the internet connection was still 56 kbps and there was no youtube. I want to make videos mainly because I want to share them and I will be learning more carefully. Second I will get feedback from lot of people which is always good.
So I hope my plan goes well, I want to take it easy and not worry too much about it. I just want to learn old subjects for the pure joy of learning and sharing. Simple.
Apart from engineering subjects I will continue to make videos on Jira and Drupal plus anything that excites me really.
Ok that is it for now. Have a nice day.

I have not blogged in the last few months a lot, there were some reasons. I was quite occupied with work and other stuff in my life and I took a great holiday in the month of August. Probably after 10 years and felt very relaxed. I guess taking regular holidays are important and I learned that when you book the holidays in advance the feeling of anticipation is great. You wait for months for that holiday and you have some assurance in your life that a holiday is coming up.
I keep forgetting that writing gives me lot of calmness in life and I always feel good after writing something and sharing on this blog. I wanted to write something today just to kick start the final quarter of the year. I hope I keep writing regularly.
A separate blog post where I will be sharing what I did during my 3 week holiday in India is pending :)
I can't believe half of 2018, time flies. I made myself lot of promises start of the year. Overall I am quite satisfied with myself this year. I feel good when I continuously keep myself abreast of the latest things happening around or at least making an attempt to learn new things. I don't like stillness in life. We should always look forward to get familiar with new things not only related to our direct field of work but in other domains.
What I am happy about? or things I stuff I learned or tried
Go
Hugo
Known
Indieweb
Improve my blog
Learned about GPS
Youtube channel
What I want to do or could have done in the past 6 months
DevOps
It is such a wide field that you can not say that you are an expert in DevOps. This year I will continue learning and exploring this domain further. I already have a good understand of what is DevOps what I am gain more knowledge around certain topics.
VBA
I used to maintain one blog called autogrid.info where I used to share tips and tricks on Excel VBA. I wish to do that again. Not sure if I will be able to spend lot of time on this but I wrote a book which I will try to publish this year.
Write a book on Drupal
In 2011 January I wrote a book on Drupal 7 which I also published. The book was not great and rather unfinished. This year I wish in my free time on weekends I can update that book for Drupal 8. I will be very happy if I can finish this task before the end of this year.
Fluent in French
Again one of my dream is to one day speak fluent french. I really want to give more time for the remainder of this year. At least I can read a book and talk to my colleagues to lear more. I did learn lot of things this year but mostly random things, I did not give enough attention on this.
That is it for the time being. Long list is also not good but these are the things that are in my mind.
I will present my experience in implementing two solutions to integrate a live chat support within JIRA Servce Desk.
When you have products and services used by thousands of customers, you need a system in place to streamline the support process. For many users, they prefer to engage with you via live chat support. It’s direct and quick, giving them instant gratification for finding a solution to their problem. For those using Jira Service Desk as their ITSM solution, there hasn’t been a Jira live chat support solution contained within the Atlassian ecosystem – until now.
Earlier this year I shared one solution and during this session I will talk about one more :)

Many people were wondering whether the new Jira 7.10 UI will be like the Cloud one or not. In this video I reviewed the new UI that comes with Jira 7.10 and looked at few other improvements.

I stumbled across this amazing piece of article on medium that talks about work life balance, whether you can achieve lot of success in life without sacrificing on your personal life if something everyone wonders.
An Ambitious Person’s Brutally Honest Take On Work-Life Balance talks about this topic with some personal references from the author Michael Simmons.

I have been using Vagrant for a very long time now. I love it. It is perfectly to setup the environment and develop for Drupal, however recently I tried moving some of my sites to Drupal 8. I know I am late, very, very late but better late than never :) and I realised setting up the environment manually is a bigger pain, to be honest I am never comfortable setting up LAMP, I don't think I have ever configured Apache perfectly in one go. It always needs some R&D to make it work with Drupal or may be I am not good in it. I don't know. It is a pain.
Vagrant solved this problem for me, but I have been using Vagrant slightly differently. I was using it mainly as a vm with not much provisioning, which I guess is fine. I was happy with it. I use usually one vm for more than one sites.
With Drupal 8 things are different. You need composer plus few other things to make things work. I was able to setup everything but it is still a pain. I want to focus more on developer than setting up environment and now I am planning to have just one vm per project and one more for staging.
I knew about Drupal VM but never really used it for real projects but I cannot avoid it anymore.
If you want to also start using Drupal VM go to this link: https://www.drupalvm.com/
All you need is Vagrant and VirtualBox installed on your system and setting up the environment just take few minutes. It is highly configurable and works just perfectly in one go.
I hope it goes well for me. I need to upgrade one site from D7 to D8 and I will be using Drupal VM for that :)
